Chilly on the Lips
A Rapper Speaking Out for Youth in Cameroon
In this award-winning documentary young Africans in Cameroon are taking their control of their present and future, with subversive hip-hop.
The population is quite young in this country, mostly under 30. The Cameroon's ruling class is decades older, and out of touch with their people. Fossilized gerontocrats stifle the hopes and dreams of young people, and exclude them from the political system.
CHILLY ON THE LIPS introduced a highly subversive who has become a spokesperson for the young generation. Valsero, as he is known, sings and raps about social and economic discontent, and uses increasingly provocative language to give a voice to those who dare provoke much-needed change.
